I’m Dan. I build the whole thing myself.
Dan Horn Media runs out of Caddo Mills, Texas. It’s one person. That’s a decision I made on purpose, not a stage I’m hoping to grow out of.
Most people who call me have been burned already. Somebody built them a site in 2019 and vanished. Or there’s a monthly fee going out to a company that hasn’t touched anything since spring. Or they got handed a five-figure quote with no explanation of what any of it bought. By the time we speak, what they want most is somebody who picks up the phone.
So that’s the model. You get my number, you use it, and whoever picks up is the person who built your site and knows exactly how it works.
Six things you can hold me to.
You get me, not a team
Every site on this website was designed and built by me. No account manager, no junior quietly doing the actual work, no offshore team nobody mentioned. You call, I pick up.
Small on purpose
I could take three times the clients and hire people to absorb the overflow. Then you’d be dealing with those people instead of me, and the only thing that makes this worth hiring would be gone.
I will tell you not to hire me
Ads wrong for you right now? Site actually fine? Job bigger than one person should sensibly take on? You’ll hear it. Losing one project costs me less than a client who resents me by October.
Built by hand, and it matters
No WordPress, no page builders, no stack of plugins waiting to break. That isn’t craft for its own sake. It’s why these sites load fast, score well, and stay up when something decides to auto-update at three in the morning.
Your stuff is yours
Your domain, your content, your photos, your ad accounts, your data. All of it in your name. Too many businesses find out the hard way that their agency was holding every key.
No jargon, ever
You should never come off a call with me unsure what you just agreed to. If I use a word you didn’t ask for, that’s my mistake and you should say so.
In person, or entirely by text.
Neither costs more. Neither gets you a better website.
Local, if you want local
Twenty minutes from Rockwall, half an hour from Greenville, inside an hour of most of DFW. If you’d rather shake hands and look at things on a laptop across a table to get a feel for who you’re hiring, I’ll come to you.
Some people need to meet somebody before trusting them with something this important. Sensible instinct. I never push back on it.
Or we never meet at all
North Garland Dental has 26,000 patients and 354 five-star reviews. Their entire website got built over Facebook Messenger and one phone call, and I’ve still never been to their office.
Phone, text, email, Messenger, whatever you already have open. No portal, no standing weekly call you have to sit through.
“Why don’t you just use WordPress?”
Because a WordPress site is thirty pieces of software written by thirty different people, all updating themselves on their own schedules. It works beautifully right up until a plugin update breaks your checkout on a Saturday morning, or a hole in something you’ve never heard of takes the whole site down.
I write mine by hand. Nothing to break, nothing to patch, nothing that updates itself at three in the morning and ruins your weekend. They load faster, rank better and stay up.
That probably sounds like a technical preference. It’s the reason one person can look after this many sites, and the reason your phone doesn’t ring with a problem.
Come say hello.
Call, text, email, or send me your website and I’ll tell you what I’d do with it. There is no sales process here. It’s a conversation with whoever would be doing the work.
Questions about working with me
Yes. Most of my clients sit within an hour of Caddo Mills, but geography stopped mattering for this work a while ago. North Garland Dental’s entire site got built over Facebook Messenger and one phone call.
Absolutely, and I enjoy it. Rockwall, Royse City, Greenville, Garland, Wylie and most of east DFW are an easy drive from Caddo Mills. Wanting to sit down and talk it through before committing to anything is completely reasonable.
Text me. I’m not going to pretend I answer at three in the morning, but I’m a lot more available than a company with a support queue and my clients know it. If your site is actually down, that’s mine to fix whatever the hour.
Fewer than I could. A small number of businesses I actually know beats a long list I can’t keep up with. Too busy to do your project properly? You’ll hear that rather than watching me take a deposit and make you wait.
The ones where the owner cares. A hot dog truck owner who wants a dinosaur mascot is more fun than a corporate rebrand, and the work usually comes out better because the person has actual opinions. Some of my favorite projects have been the smallest.
